Bella Newcomb is one of the people responsible for turning TomKat Ranch from a working place into a convening place. As Gathering for Action Associate, she helps with every gathering on the ranch — the planning, the production, the execution, and the experience itself.

Bella thinks in systems. She understands that the food conversation is often too narrow, shaped by consumer preference instead of ecological reality. Her perspective widens the frame. Even people who will never eat meat still need to understand the role cattle can play in building healthy soil, because that soil supports far more than one product category. It supports the broader conditions that make real food possible.

That systems view becomes deeply personal in the way Bella talks about land connection. She believes people protect what they feel connected to and that even a short experience on the land can shift how someone thinks about food, responsibility, and impact. Her work goes far beyond logistics. She is helping create the conditions for a relationship—the kind that turns understanding into care and care into action.

Why Bella Newcomb Matters

Bella Newcomb matters as a Farm Hero because she helps move regenerative agriculture into public life. She creates the spaces where people can gather, encounter the land directly, and begin to understand what food systems actually rest on.

She sees connection as a practical force. When people come onto the ranch, they begin to feel responsibility for land, for food, for climate stability, and for the choices they make every day.

"We’ve lost that connection between ourselves and the food that we eat."

Farm Hero chose Bella Newcomb because her work helps answer one of the movement’s hardest questions: how do you turn understanding into action? Her answer is to bring people close enough to the land that they can no longer pretend the connection is missing.
